Coconut Syrup With Coconut Milk

Ingredients

  • Full-fat coconut milk (1 can or 13.5 oz)
  • Granulated sugar (3/4 cup)
  • Sea salt (One pinch – Optional)
  • Brown sugar (1 tablespoon – Optional)
  • Vanilla extract (1 teaspoon – Optional)
  • Scraped or smashed Vanilla bean (½ – Optional)

Steps To Follow

  • Take one can of coconut milk. If the coconut milk is not sweet enough, mix 1-2 tablespoons of sugar with it. You can also prepare coconut milk from any brown coconut; which means the shell of the coconut will be brown.
  • Take coconut flesh and bake it in a preheated oven (350°F) for 10-15 minutes. Then smoothly blend the flesh with water and strain the coconut milk from it.
  • Then mix 1-2 tablespoons of sugar with it well to make it sweetened.
  • Then take a small pan and put the prepared coconut milk, granulated sugar and sea salt. If you want you can avoid sea salt. Stir or whisk to melt the sugar.
  • Heat the mixture over medium to low heat. Stir it occasionally and bring it to a simmer. Do not bring it to a boil. Reduce the heat and cook for about 15-20 minutes to make it thick. You can adjust the consistency as you want.
  • If you want to add flavors, add Vanilla extract, brown sugar or vanilla bean in the last 5 minutes of cooking.
  • When ready, remove the pan from heat and let it cool down. Then strain the mixture with a fine-mesh strainer or sieve. This is how the coconut syrup is ready. Store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
